concept for my art work

In our saturated information age it is growing progressively more difficult to experience something without preconceptions of any kind-an untainted encounter.

Some of the myriad media from which we can gather information the internet, photographs and news papers-give give us a lot of visual information from these media, it is possible to gain what seems to be a condensed impression of what is actually going to be investigated before any real life meeting takes place. One’s past experiences and visual impressions create a mental rift between one’s preconceptions and one’s later experience of the real world phenomena.

I am also interested in how people go through the process that to get to know things. By observing the internal character and physical nature of an object during the initial meeting, we develop what is commonly known as a first impression forwards that object.

When we observe a two dimensional image, we are actually seeking a connection between the object’s visual impression and our past experiences. Objects in a three dimensional space however, connect with both the visual impressions and experiences mentioned above and also interact with our senses. Furthermore, it is impossible to gain a perception of time or distance from two dimensional images. Therefore, by first viewing an object in it’s two dimensional form, we develop a preconceptions. By comparing this preconception with object’s three dimensional forms we are able to gain a further understanding of how we investigate things in the real world.
